How To Remove Antivirus 2008 aka Antivirus 2009 virus

As I reached my customer's home in Bonner Springs, KS,  I met him in the yard and he directed me to the room which had the computer infected with the Antivirus 2008 malware.

As I began to observe the behavior of the computer, Antivirus 2008/2009 causes the browser to default to about:blank.  When you try to navigate to a different website, pop-ups begin. The pop-ups warn you that there are viruses on your computer and try to persuade you to purchase Antivirus 2008.  These pop-ups continually appear while trying to surf the web.
